IRAN: MANUCHEHR MOHAMMADI AND GHOLAMREZA MOHAJERI-NEZHAD, student activists: (UA 123/99 issued 26 May and re-issued 1 June 1999). A.I. has learned that both have been released. No specific information on Gholamreza Mohajeri-Nezhad is known. However the case of Manuchehr Mohammadi seems to be politically motivated. Eye-witnesses report that on his way to speak at a demonstration organized by the National Union of Students, to protest the detention of two prisoners of conscience, he was beaten up by a group of men and taken away in a car.
